Even though schools have not opened yet in Mumbai, other parts of maharashtra have started school amidst the pandemic.

Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad, recently speaking to the media stated that the class 10 and class 12 board examinations will be conducted in the offline mode only.

Varsha Gaikwad, further stated that it would not be feasible to change the pattern of the SSC and HSC examinations. Gaikwad, speaking about the dates for the same, added that the government is trying its best to conduct the examinations between the months of April and May. Usually, the board examinations are conducted in the months of February and March. However, most of the examinations have been postponed this year due to the outbreak of the Covid 19.


On the other hand, Anurag Tripathi, CBSE Board Secretary, had earlier informed that the practical exams will be held between January 1 to February 8, 2021. earlier on November 20, while speaking during a webinar on New Education Policy (NEP), Tripathi had asserted that the CBSE is making plans and will soon reveal how it will do test assessments. 

In between, MUMBAI’S civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has recently announced that the schools in Mumbai would remain closed until December 31, in view of the surge in cases of coronavirus in the city. Responding to the same, Gaikwad had clarified that the local authorities will be responsible for making a decision on reopening schools in their respective areas after assessing the coronavirus situation.

Government dont want to hurry as it does not want to close schools immediately after reopening them because of the nature of the contagious disease. She also took the example of Andhra Pradesh and Delhi and vouched for a more staggered method of reopening schools.

However, the final decision rests with CM Uddhav Thackeray, Gaikwad said in conclusion.

New Delhi: While demands from various quarters for cancellation are rising in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, the board secretary said that the exams are set to take place and CBSE ‘will soon reveal how’ the test assessments will be done

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Board examinations for class 10 and 12 will happen ‘for sure’ and the scheduled will soon be revealed, said the CBSE Secretary Anurah Tripathi on November 20.
